10tons is an independent game studio based in Tampere, Finland. Our mission is to create games which can be enjoyed on a wide variety of platforms from mobile to the latest consoles.

10tons is truly independent: We develop and publish our games ourselves. We are 100% self-funded: Revenues from past games fund new games. We even use our very own game engine to ensure minimum time to market when new opportunities arise. 10tons is a true artisanal game developer - from the first bit to the last.

Fun fact: We're the oldest game studio in Tampere, Finland. 10tons - since 2003!

History

Early history

10tons Ltd. was founded in 2003 by a few university students. Digital distribution was starting to get traction and the founders wanted to see if they could succeed by making digitally distributed games. The debut release was Crimsonland, which became a cult hit. In 2003 the casual games market was emerging and 10tons founded the brand MythPeople to develop casual games. 10tons released several casual games through the following years for PC and Mac. In 2008 the games found a great new market on iOS when the iPhone and App Store were launched. From then on 10tons continued to create games as a true multiplatform publisher. After the mobile platform was conquered, 10tons started eyeing consoles.

In 2015 10tons became a console developer and publisher. Thanks to our in-house engine we were among the first developers on Playstation 4. For a brief period in 2014, 10tons games represented more than 10% of all PS4 games available on PSN.

The Present Day

In addition to desktop and mobile, 10tons develops and publishes console games as well. Platforms include PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. We continue to develop new, intriguing games and aim to bring them on as many platforms as possible.
